About Knox'd
Knox'd is an aggregator of the latest information from the best of Knoxville's online media. All sites are hand-picked by the site managers, Casey Peters and Patrick Beeson.
This site is inspired by similar efforts from Alltop and PopURLs as well as the site formerly known as This is Roanoke. Site developer and designer Patrick Beeson wrote about the latter in a blog entry titled "Create your own news site with XML."
Knox'd is developed in Django and owes much to the community aggregator source code released on the Djangoproject Web site.
FAQ
How often are feeds updated?
We update feeds once per hour. This could be adjusted at some point in the future.
Is the feed information archived indefinitely?
We purge the database of feed items older than 30 days on a weekly basis. No feed information is kept permanently.
How do I get my feed added to this site?
Send us a pitch using our contact form. Your site should provide a valid RSS or Atom feed that meets spec according to the W3C.
If you need more information about whether your site has a feed, or how to go about making it valid, please let us know.
Remember, we only accept feeds from Web sites in Knoxville and the surrounding region. Also, we want local content; not a focus on national news and information.
I noticed you already aggregate my feed. Can you remove it?
We will remove any feed a site owner would rather us not use. We will also comply with any rules that restrict the nature of how a site's feed can be used. If we are in violation, please let us know.
Will you be displaying ads on Knox'd?
Advertising will be added to this site. But we will not sell ads targeted at specific headlines whose feed restrictions don't permit commercial use.
I found a bug. How do I let you know?
All bugs should be reported to either Casey or Patrick by using the contact form.
